The 50 Great Portuguese Wines tastings are now over for another year, and what a fantastic selection they were.

Julia Harding MW, who compiled the list this year, likened Portugal and its wines as "water from rock" referring to Moses striking a rock with his staff and water magically gushing from it to save the Israelites. Her point was that from such a hard, rocky and some might say uncompromising landscape as Portugal it is both surprising and delightful that such refreshing, lively wines exist - a true credit to the winemakers.

If you came along to the tastings, either as a consumer or member of the trade, thank you. We enjoyed having you taste the wines and hearing what you had to say. Like us, I'm sure you'll agree that it was a real pleasure to discover so many new varieties, some of whom have completely fallen off the radar.
